Where are all the bicycle lanes ?

Many of cyclists do not like riding on the bicycle lanes even though bicycle lanes have been built beside some roads and footpaths, but still no one wants to use them because of they are bumpy and full with obstruction.Their bicycle wheels might be trapped in drains which are left open on some footpaths. As bike lanes failed to draw attention from authorities, the dream of he Thai Journalists Association (TJA) and the Environmental Reporters Association to make Bangkok a bicycle-friendly is failed. Orawit Hemajutha, deputy director of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA)'s transport division, said no additional bike lanes had been built in recent years as authorities appeared not to be interested in expanding them. Now, there are only 26 bike lanes across Bangkok. Some lanes are full of potholes. Other lanes have been turned into parking lots and some street vendors have occupied them. Mr Orawit said a budget set aside for creating bike lanes in the city was less than 1% of the BMA's total budget. Each bike lane required a budget of only 700,000-800,000 baht per kilometre to build, he said. The cycling needs to improve as we need people's attention to them.

I think cycling is more significant than everyone thought. Cycling assist with the environment as it uses no energy unlike cars or other transportation. Moreover, it is also a sport which makes us healthy. I think we should pay more attention to cycling, it needs the society pressure. There are many bike lanes that need to improve, and the government still deny it.
I think the government deny the bicycle lanes becuase cycling is not famous in Thailand. Almost, Thai people drive a car and ride a motorcycle. They don't ride a bicycle to go to somewhere because the weather in Thailand is very hot. This is the reason that cycling is not popular in Thailand.

High-speed rail plan is coming

A senior official at the Transport Ministry pronounces that the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning will suggest to the government to start the investment of the high-speed rail line. Economic ministers argued about a plan to build the country's first high-speed rail line, with the speed of 250km an hour which should started last November. Conducting a study for the concern of the State Railway of Thailand and later cabinet was the responsibility of the OTTP, an agency under the Transport Ministry. Permanent secretary for transport Supoj Sublom said the OTTP will support the plan if the government takes action for civil construction, including tracks, while giving the private sector to provide in the train. The government will give 800 million bath for the construction work, he said There are four rail lines: from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, to Nong Khai, to Rayong and to Hat Yai district in Songkhla. Although there is pressure to build the Rayong line, a ministry source said the most viable route would be between Bangkok and Hat Yai, which is the main centre of business in the South.

I think it is a good thing to have speed-rails because it would be easier to travel around. It is very fast. It is also more comfortable, too. the trains in Thailad is very slow. It is significant for Thailand. The high-speed rail can support to a tourist. It can make more income and make a good economic to Thailand. It also can promote the tourism of Thailannd, too. Thailand is improving in a good ways, I hope this project will be done soon. I'm looking forward to see the changes in Thailand. People life will be much easier with the speed trains.

Workpoint Entertainment is taking a new step

Workpoint is a publicly listed TV production company, raised the capital for building the studio mainly through an IPO listing in Thailand three years ago. Lately, Workpoint Entertainment was given the opportunity to build a new shooting hub. This makes the Workpoint Entertainment as an international shooting hub. It opened last October. They built a studio with five NC 30-approved soundstages, one of which is the largest in Asia with 1,760 sq in size. The area of 4,372 sq m is for the fully air-conditioned studio with facilities for sound recording, editing, post-production and even casting. The studio is located in Bangkok not far from the Donmuang International Airport. An International TV commercial shoots was the first work of these studios. Currently shooting at the studio is Teng Nong Konmahahia, a Thai action comedy produced by Workpoint's new wholly-owned subsidiary Hua Film Thai Film in collaboration with Sahamongkolfilm International. The new picture is directed by Chusak Eiamsuk and Phongsak Phongsuwan, the stars of last year's box office hit Nong Teng Nakleng-pukaotong. The latter was directed by Panich Sodsee who is now Hua Film chief and is attending Filmart in Hong Kong for the first time to promote the studio with the aim of attracting international shoots. At the same time, the Thailand Film Office which promotes the country as a prime shooting destination takes part at Hong Kong Filmart's Locations World, a location trade show held for the first time in Hong Kong for film commissions worldwide.

I think it is a good opportunity for Thailand's entertainment company to improve their studios and all equipment as they are stepping into to the international business
. If Thailand's entertainment company keep improving their works, may be not for so long Thailand's entertainment industry will be as famous as the Hollywood industry. Thai people are as good as other countries.

Chui Chai is back to the stage in Thailand

On this coming Aug 6-8 and Aug 14-15, Chui Chai will be back to Thailand after their world premiere show at the U.S. last month as they will perform at Patravadi Theatre for Thai people. Pichet Klunchun Dance Company is the one who brings back them back. Chui Chai is a part of the famous Nang Loi (Floating Lady) episode from the Ramayana epic. It mainly tells about demon maiden Benyakai, who is under control of her great demon uncle Thodsakarn, King of Lanka, to transform herself into Sita, wife of his enemy King Rama. Thodsakarn has taken her to Lanka, causing King Rama to start a battle to get her back. Thodsakarn wants Benyakai as Sita to play dead in order to fool Rama into ending the war. this is a near-impossible job ,but Benyakai has to do it. The performance will see women in an amzing costumes moving through pools of light, unlike Pichet, who reflects their movements between traditional and contemporary styles. other than the transformation of Benyakai, the audiences will also see the changing of Thai society from the Ayutthaya era to the present Rattanakosin era, the dance is a well combine of modern dance and traditional dance. After Bangkok, Chui Chai will move to be on show at Vic Hua Hin every Sat evening during Sept 11-25. this performance is what everyone are looking forward for.

I think this show is very good because they shows their performance around the world. It show Thai culture and costumes to foreigners. It can also promote the image of Thailand. Thai people should maintain the Thai culture for the next generation. It you go to see the show, you can also conserve it, too.
